Kremlin Criticizes Western Military Support
Peskov argued that recent declarations made by European political figures suggest a preference for intensifying the conflict rather than working toward peace.
Peskov emphasized that Russia remains open to direct dialogue with Ukraine and is still awaiting suggestions for scheduling a third round of negotiations.
“We're ready but have received no proposals from Kyiv. While Washington and Europe claim to want dialogue, their actions suggest otherwise,” he asserted.
Addressing speculation about possible changes within Ukraine’s leadership, particularly the future of Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, the Kremlin commented that it is “difficult to predict” whether such a development would have any real influence on potential peace talks.
Responding to comments by NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, who questioned the rank of Russian negotiator Vladimir Medinsky, the Kremlin clarified that Medinsky holds a role that “exceeds ministerial level under Russia's hierarchy, ranking above Ukraine's delegation head.”
The Kremlin also acknowledged recent statements made by US President Donald Trump on July 14 regarding continued military assistance to Ukraine.
Officials noted they are reviewing Trump’s comments and will examine them in greater detail.
Concerning Trump’s remarks about Russian President Vladimir Putin, Peskov mentioned that Putin might respond personally if he believes it is necessary.
